| summary | In this seminar, a series of different experimental studies on the research field of map perception will be presented and discussed. The used methodological approach in these experiments is based on the collection and the analysis of gaze data during the observation of several cartographic products. The theoretical framework of these studies is mainly related to theories and models which have been developed in order to describe the concept of preattentive vision as well as its influence in visual attention process. Additionally, several software analysis tools that have been developed towards the analysis of eye tracking data will be described. |
